Megaman vs. Polish Immigrant

The Vancouver Sun has published an article about this video. I think that both the video and the article are quite good works. The video itself is tragically funny in how it depicts Canadian law enforcement. The Polish Embassy reacted with clarity and tact by saying that the video was "was a product of a public distressed by the October incident."

The RCMP, however, proved to be totally robotic. A spokesman for the B.C. RCMP said he found the video "offensive." He said "Any right-thinking person who would look at the video would be offended by that. A gentlemen lost his life and it is in extremely poor taste."

Sir, Robert Dziekanski did not lose his life -- your co-workers took it from him. You should be humbled by this video in as much as it simulates the continued immaturity of the RCMP mind. Right thinking people may well be offended by the video because it reminds them of the offensive incident in the airport. They may also be offended to see that it is in extremely bad taste that you seek to take the heat off of your organization by criticizing the artist of what is bound to be a well circulated video. You need to learn to take criticism instead of displacing it.

Well said. The RCMP have become more of a political organization than a source of justice and pride for this country. But short of a wholesale restructuring of the system, this is the immature mindset we are stuck with for now. I don't like that thought either - that we are "stuck" with it. The RCMP is blowing smoke, and pointing fingers everywhere but at themselves as an organization. There will be either a fall guy or a cover-up, but I have my doubts about justice being served unless the courts actually get properly involved.
Their decision to capitalize on the apparent tastelessness of this video, without taking pause to note it as scathing commentary on the public perception of the RCMP, is just one example of their mindset.
